Straight answers, no fluff

What UK and EU buyers usually want to know before they send tooling work to Asia. If your question isn't here, ask — we'll reply in plain English within one working day.

Who owns the mould or stamping tool once it's paid for?
You do. Thai law and our standard contract make tooling the customer's property on completion. We can store and run it at our facility, ship it to the UK, or transfer it to a third party — entirely your call.
What about my CAD, drawings and product IP?
Drawings, CAD and product designs remain your intellectual property. Thai regulation guarantees customer ownership of IP, including for tooling Sowell builds. NDAs are signed before any technical exchange on request.
How quickly can I have a prototype in the UK?
3D-printed prototypes are typically dispatched within 5–10 working days and reach UK addresses by international air courier (UPS, DHL, FedEx) in a further 3–7 days door-to-door.
What's the typical lead time for an injection mould or stamping tool?
Standard production tooling: 5–10 weeks depending on complexity, cavitation and steel grade. Air-freighted T0 samples for sign-off, then sea-freight tooling or keep it here for finished-part production. We give a firm lead time with every quote.
What happens when the tooling wears?
After 100,000+ shots tools naturally wear. We refurbish, re-grind or replace inserts to restore production performance — including tools originally built elsewhere. Refurbishment is far cheaper than a new tool.
What file formats do you accept for quoting?
3D CAD in STEP (.stp / .step) is preferred. We also accept IGES, X_T, native SolidWorks, and 2D PDF drawings. A hand sketch with dimensions is enough to start a conversation.
Is there a minimum order quantity?
No formal MOQ on tooling. For finished-part supply we're most cost-effective from 1,000+ pieces, but we'll quote any quantity — including small UK pilot runs of 100–500.
How do I know quality matches a UK toolmaker?
First-article inspection (FAI / PPAP-style report) and full dimensional report ship with every T0 sample. We work to BS / EN tolerances and ISO 2768 by default, tighter where the drawing specifies. Tier-1 OEMs including Daikin Industries (Thailand) and Thai Summit run on our tooling.
Why Thailand and not China direct?
Thailand delivers the best offshore package for UK and EU buyers: competitive pricing, strong IP protection under Thai law, direct English communication, and fast air-freight samples. Stable trade with the UK and EU — no tariff wars. Chinese manufacturers are opening plants here for the same reasons. Asian cost with Tier-1 quality and reliability.
How do payments and shipping work?
Tooling is staged: deposit on order, balance on T0 sample sign-off. Finished-part runs on standard terms after the first order. Shipping by sea container (palletised, customs paperwork handled) or air freight for urgent samples and top-ups. Quotes are GBP or USD.

PARTS

Continued Finished Part Supply

Once your tool is signed off, take ongoing production of finished parts straight from Sowell — packed, palletised and shipped to UK and EU customers. Same partner from sketch to loading bay.

A single UK supply chain — tool to truck

After tool sign-off you have a choice: have the tool air- or sea-freighted home, or leave it with us and run continuous production. Most UK customers pick the second route — lower per-part cost, no machine downtime at home, and one project manager covering tooling, parts and shipping.

Plastic injection-moulded parts

Production runs of plastic parts from your injection mould — single-cavity to multi-cavity, hot runner, overmoulded inserts, two-shot, technical engineering plastics.

Stamped & formed sheet metal

Pressed parts from progressive, compound and forming dies — brackets, clips, frames, electrical contacts and fine-blanked components. Laser trimming, holes and profiles on the same site.

Laser-cut sheet & plate

Fibre laser cutting of mild steel, stainless and aluminium — standalone blanks or secondary ops after stamping. Cut, deburr and pack for UK warehouse delivery on the same PO as stamped parts.

Light sub-assemblies

Combine moulded and stamped parts, fasteners and inserts into ready-to-use sub-assemblies — fewer line items on your purchase order, less work in your UK warehouse.

Pack to your spec

Bulk bags, bin-packs, tray-packs or branded retail packaging. Barcoded, labelled and palletised to your UK warehouse standard.

Quality plan included

First-article inspection (FAI / PPAP-style report), in-process checks, and a sample retention from each batch — full traceability you can share with end customers.

UK / EU door-to-door

Sea freight to UK and EU ports in around six weeks, with pre-cleared paperwork. Air freight available for urgent top-ups or first deliveries.

Tools, IP & finished parts stay yours

Your tool is yours. Your drawings stay yours. Thai law protects customer IP, and Thailand offers UK and EU buyers the best combination of offshore pricing, quality and trade stability.

Move tooling to the UK at any time, switch to a UK supplier later, or run for years from our facility. The choice is always yours.

MOULDS

Injection Mould Tools

Plastic injection mould tooling for UK and EU OEMs — designed, machined, fitted and trialled in our Thai facility. Air-freight samples for sign-off, sea-freight tooling, and major savings versus UK toolmakers without giving up quality or IP.

From CAD to first shot in the UK

We handle the whole tooling job — DFM review, mould design, steel selection, machining, fitting, polishing and try-out. First-off samples are couriered by air to your UK office for sign-off; the finished tool follows by sea, packed and customs-documented.

Air-freight samples, sea-freight tooling

First-off and approval samples from each cavity are couriered to the UK by international air freight (UPS, DHL, FedEx) — typically 3–7 days door to door, so you can hold the part and sign off without flying out. The finished mould tool itself ships by sea container to UK and EU ports, palletised and customs-paperwork-ready, or stays in our facility for ongoing finished-part production.

We have the right steel for every job — and our team will recommend a grade based on part geometry, production volume, and resin choice. UK and EU equivalents always provided.

P20 / 1.2311
General-purpose mould
Pre-hardened, excellent machinability. Best for medium production volumes — typical UK consumer products.
P20+Ni / 1.2738
Large-block mould
Nickel addition for uniform hardness in large cross-sections — automotive panels and large industrial covers.
SKD11 / D2
High-volume wear parts
For mould inserts requiring maximum abrasion resistance — high-volume parts and abrasive resins.
STAMPING

Stamping Tools

Progressive, compound, fine-blanking and forming dies — built with premium cold-work steels for long tool life and tight, repeatable tolerances UK and EU manufacturers can rely on.

Built for long tool life & tight UK tolerances

We choose steel for maximum wear and edge retention because tool life drives your cost per part. Engineered for millions of strokes — built to outperform from day one.

Air-freight samples, sea-freight tooling

First-off stamped samples are sent by international air courier to the UK — typically 3–7 days door to door, so dimensional sign-off happens fast and tooling tweaks (if any) start the same week. The press tool itself ships by sea container, palletised and customs-paperwork-ready, or stays at our facility for ongoing finished-part production.
